  • Law & Governance

Compliance • Information Governance • Legal Education • Public Interest

  • Law and governance are where my work in ethics and civics come together. Long before entering formal legal training, I found myself supporting organizations that needed clarity, structure, and compliance in fast-changing environments. Over time, that work evolved into helping institutions navigate policy, documentation, and risk with transparency and integrity.

    Regulatory Practice Through Real-World Problems

My governance experience began in environments where legal questions were practical, not theoretical. I worked with school systems, nonprofits, and community organizations to interpret policies, build documentation systems, and navigate FOIL/FOIA requests and audit requirements. These projects taught me to translate rules into processes people can actually use — a skill I now carry into law school and ongoing compliance work.

Intellectual Property, Licensing, and Global Streaming Rights

A significant part of my early governance work involved copyright and licensing compliance.

While directing an international music ministry that live-streamed to 80+ countries, I navigated:

    • public performance rights
    • mechanical and streaming licenses
    • international copyright variations
    • digital platform compliance
    • content moderation and takedown procedures

I also consulted with organizations on copyright-safe marketing, helping founders and small businesses avoid infringement in promotional materials, video content, and branded storytelling.

These experiences grounded me in the practical side of intellectual property law — understanding not just the statute, but how real organizations maintain compliance in global digital spaces.

Governance in Education and Youth Sports

My governance experience extends into the education and athletics sectors.

I contributed to policy-aligned civic education programs, supported legal studies pathways for high school students, and helped youth programs implement CDC-mandated concussion protocols. Earlier, as an NAIA athlete and student coach during a transition toward NCAA standards, I worked within evolving compliance structures and athletic governance expectations.

    Legal Training and Future Practice

Today, I bring this background into my legal studies as a J.D. candidate at CUNY School of Law, focusing on public interest, compliance, and institutional accountability. I am completing the NALA Certified Paralegal credential and building expertise in regulatory communication, documentation systems, and education law.

My goal is to help organizations — whether schools, businesses, nonprofits, ministries, or civic institutions — build systems that uphold integrity, protect rights, and strengthen public trust.
